What is the Difference between the Duo and the CarPro?
Good Question! While they look very similar they have very different applications.
What is the CarPro?
The CoolStream CarPro is a Bluetooth Receiver specifically designed to work with cars and motorcycles that come with a factory installed 30-pin iPod cable. The main advantage of the CarPro is that the software included in the CarPro will allow for the use of your steering wheel controls in your car or the handlebar controls on your motorcycle. Also, if you are using an iPhone you will also be able to see your iTunes displayed onto your entertainment screen.

What is the Duo?
The CoolStream Duo is a Bluetooth Receiver that is really great for docking stations with the traditional Apple 30-Pin iPod connector, like a Bose SoundDock (among many), as well as some cars and motorcycles too. The Duo also has an internal battery for portable streaming and the CarPro does not. We have very extensive lists of all the docking stations, cars and motorcycles we work with and encourage you to check out our research to see if we are a good fit for your streaming needs.
How to use the Duo
The CoolStream CarPro is small light weight Bluetooth receiver designed to stream music from your cell phone to your car stereo. The CoolStream CarPro will also allow for the use of the steering wheel functions. If you are using an iPhone for streaming purposes then the CarPro will also allow you to see the song titles on your entertainment screen as they are playing.
The CoolStream CarPro is for music streaming only. If you have integrated Bluetooth for voice in your car already then the CarPro will pause the music when a call comes in. As soon as you hang up from your call the CarPro will seamlessly return to the music right where it left off.
While the CarPro models have been specifically designed for the Audi, Volkswagen, BMW, Mini-Cooper and Mercedes we have had great results with other car makers for various years and models that were manufactured with the factory installed 30-pin cable. We are currently testing the CarPro on many different makes and models. Our most current list is located here. If you don’t see your particular vehicle listed then that means that we haven’t tested the CarPro on that particular make and model. We are always looking for Beta Testers to make our list as complete as possible. We have samples available free of charge for our Beta Testers. All that we ask is that you let us know the results of your test and send us a picture of your car with the CarPro in it.

The CoolStream Duo is a small, lightweight Bluetooth receiver. It is designed to be used predominantly with docking stations that were made with the traditional (30-pin) Apple connector but also works with some cars and motorcycles. When you place the Duo on the docking station’s connector a small blue light will come on. This lets you know that the Duo is getting power and that its internal rechargeable battery is being charged. When you turn on the Bluetooth function of your phone you will be able to pair your phone to the Duo. Once this is done you can stream music from your phone through to the docking station where the Duo is connected.
We have a fairly extensive list of docking stations and vehicles on which we have tested with the Duo. Please feel free to check out this list to see if your dock, car or motorcycle is there.
